We leverage a wide range of technology options to help our clients find and use the ideal tools for their research studies. In-vivo confocal microscopy is a powerful tool for visualizing skin at a cellular level. We work closely with Caliber ID (www.caliberid.com) to help their customers develop customized applications for skin imaging and measurement with the Vivascope line of confocal microscopes. Reflectance Confocal Microscopy (RCM) can be performed on skin with near-IR light using the Vivascope 1500 and Vivascope 3000 microscopes, and with visible wavelengths with the Vivascope 1500 Multilaser microscope. Selection of the ideal wavelength depends on the details of the particular application. Fluorescence Confocal Microscopy (FCM) allows detailed examination of the outermost layer of skin, the stratum corneum, and of lotions and other products applied to the skin surface. The Vivascope 1500 Multilaser enables imaging of a variety of skin-safe fluorescent dyes:
Advanced applications with the Vivascope 1500 Multilaser may include simultaneous use of multiple fluorophores. Please contact us for help developing these complex research studies. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) OCT is ideal for applications requiring deeper imaging of skin than is possible with confocal microscopy. Both commercial and customized systems are available for a wide variety of applications. Reflectance spectroscopy and color measurement Skin color and other optical properties can be measured with a variety of tools, depending on application requirements. Jesse M. Weissman Consulting can help clients identify and use the tools that best meet their needs. Multispectral imaging Imaging applications that use multiple wavelengths of light can combine spectroscopy with digital imaging to utilize the best features of both. |
